Horseman TTL Meter Battery solution

With special thanks to Rick Jadlowski

The Horseman TTL meter for View cameras is unique in that it allows through the lens metering at the film plane. Unfortunately, the recommended batteries are no longer available (PX640 and PX26). We do have batteries that can be used with a little effort. Note that the higher voltage (1.5v vs 1.35v, 6.0v vs 5.4v) will cause the meter to indicate about one stop MORE exposure than is needed.

Use an A640PX in place of the PX640. This is a same size, drop in preplacement.

To replace the PX26 battery:

The PX 26 battery is no longer made, but a 28 PX size battery can be used to replace it. The 28PX is the same length, but a couple of millimeters smaller in diameter. Use a silver 28 (S28PX) for most consistent results.

Take a 35mm plastic film canister, cut it to about 20 mm (3/4 inch) in length and split it lengthwise, compress it into a tight roll and insert it into the battery holder. It expands when released into a perfect bushing to keep the battery centered on the contacts.
